Until now, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor has not adopted continuous variable transmission or CVT technology in the cars they sell in Indonesia. In fact, several other manufacturers have adopted this technology. So, what is Daihatsu’s reason?
ADM Marketing Director, Amelia Tjandra said CVT will make the selling price of Daihatsu cars less affordable. However, it is possible that in the future Daihatsu will also use it.
“We will also have (Daihatsu cars in Indonesia) later. In Japan, all use CVT. But, if it is applied to the Indonesian market, what is the price, is it sufficient (competitive) or not. Then, in terms of competition, how,” he said in Padang, Sumatra West, Friday 12 January 2018.
He also did not want to comment on whether the first Daihatsu car sold in the country and already adopting a CVT was the Sirion. Because, the Malaysian version of the Sirion has adopted it.
